Rockchip RK3399 vs Mediatek MT8173 Unveiled by

Now, more and more people are talking about Rockchip RK3399. At the same time, Mediatek MT8173 is another worth-mentioning chipset. Today, updates its website and unveils some difference between these two chipsets.

Both chips are similarly clocked ARM cortex cores. The difference is in the GPU. The MT8173 is PowerVR GX6250. The RK3399 is Mali T-860. The fact is the MT8173 is using older tech. As u/ShineChrome mentioned, the size/weight is the bigger deal if you want to use it as a tablet. The SCP is the same size as a wire bound notebook (the paper kind), weighs a full pound less than the R13. SCP also comes with a stylus. Many people probably won’t use a stylus frequently, but the larger screen sounds attractive.

RK3399 is said to be found in TV boxes, development boards, tablets, Chromebooks, virtual reality headset and more soon, and is widely expected to offer a significant performance boost against previous Rockchip processors. YUNDOO Y8 TV Box has been released by YUNDOO Technology. This model comes with Rockchip RK3399 CPU, which is a hexa-core processor with ARM Cortex A72 and A53 cores and a Mali-T860MP GPU.
